THE ARTIFICE

Parti and Poché

A group analysis on the Villa Can Feliz by Jørn Utzon exploring the use of Parti and Poché to dismantle the villa into a set of architectonic elements. Involved with the analysis was a balsa sectional model, made to a scale of 1:100, providing a visual representation of the interior and exterior site. From a thorough understanding of the artifice of the villa, the students were expected to incorporate perceptual and conceptual understanding, namely the bodily experience in and outside of the building, as well as meaningful and symbolic implications of formal and geometrical relations within the plan and section.
